Russia attacked Ukraine overnight into Wednesday, 21 October, with Iskander-K cruise missiles and 186 Shahed strike drones, 88 of them jet-powered, the Ukrainian Air Force says.
Two people died in Kyiv and two more in Korotych, in the Kharkiv region, where 11 others were hurt, including two children. Four people were also hurt in the Rivne region and three in Kremenchuk.
Kyiv
A flat on the 20th floor of a high-rise in the Sviatoshynskyi district caught fire after a strike. The blaze covered about 70 sq m, and the flat was partly destroyed. Rescuers found the bodies of two people as they cleared the rubble.
In the Desnianskyi district, seven parked cars burned in the yard of a high-rise. The fire covered about 50 sq m and has been put out. In the Solomianskyi district, a strike was recorded on open ground.

Korotych, Kharkiv region
Russian drones hit homes in the town of Korotych in the Kharkiv district. Two people died and 11 were hurt, including two children.

The State Emergency Service (DSNS) said crews pulled the bodies of a man and a woman from the rubble of one of the houses. Private houses and outbuildings were destroyed or damaged, and a farm building caught fire at another address.
Rescuers, bomb disposal teams and dog handlers worked at the scene despite the risk of new strikes.
Rivne region
A day earlier, Russian forces hit one of the region's hypermarkets several times. Four civilians were hurt, three of them in hospital.

Rescuers said the fire was big. Plenty of flammable material and the risk of new strikes made it hard to fight, and crews had to pull back to safety several times. The fire is now out.
Kremenchuk and Poltava
A Russian strike on the grounds of Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi University in Kremenchuk set the fifth floor of a teaching building on fire. The latest reports say three people were hurt, including a 16-year-old, who is in hospital.

In Poltava, shelling started fires in an administrative building and a warehouse.
What was shot down and where debris fell
By 8:30am, preliminary data show, air defences had shot down or jammed 150 enemy drones, 63 of them jet-powered. They included Shaheds, S8000 Banderol/Dan-T, Gerbera and other types. Another 10 strike drones were still in the air, and air defences were still at work.
Strikes were recorded at 27 locations, and debris from downed targets fell at 13. Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems and mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces fought off the attack.
Russia has been waging a full-scale war on Ukraine since February 2022.

Коротич ли? Не знаех, че там изобщо има хора! Преди години като бях на екскурзия със училището, Харков ми се стори доста голям град, а сега... Какво става с тия хора бе? 😡
