Prosecutors, investigators and judges begin general meetings today to choose their members of the new Supreme Judicial Council. The timetable approved by the council sets meetings for today and the next five Saturdays.

Prosecutors meet first. Today they will choose a chair for the meeting and members of an election commission and polling sections, then hear 25 candidates from the prosecutors' quota. The vote on which nominees join the new council is on 24 October.

Parliament also elects council members under its own quota.

BTA is broadcasting the prosecutors' meeting live. The agency is covering the elections in all the quotas, those of parliament, judges, prosecutors and investigators, in its section "The New Supreme Judicial Council".

Judges meet on 31 October and vote on 7 November. Investigators meet on 14 November and vote a week later, on 21 November.
