It turns out that a child is responsible for the massive wildfire that consumed 14,000 decares of land in the territories of the villages of Dinevo, Koren, Krivo Pole, and Malevo in the Haskovo region. Containing the disaster took nearly 48 hours, with the complex extinguishing operation involving a significant number of personnel as well as aviation in the form of a specialized helicopter.

Senior Commissioner Miroslav Hristov, head of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Haskovo, shed light on the causes of the ignition. He cited the version of events as follows: "After finishing their cigarettes, one of the children used a lighter to set fire to the grass, in his own words, to see what would happen and to clear away the dry grass."

According to the police chief, the rapid spread of the flames was fueled by unfavorable weather conditions. Senior Commissioner Miroslav Hristov relayed the children's account as follows: "Shortly after it started, due to the strong wind, the fire grew. According to them, they tried to extinguish it with makeshift tools, but failed, after which, frightened, they ran towards the village of Dinevo."
