_Todor Hunkov_ Handball Tournament Gathers Elite Teams in Burgas

Burgas is preparing to host one of the most significant sporting events in the Bulgarian handball calendar—the traditional men's tournament "Todor Hunkov". In its eleventh edition, this prestigious competition will once again bring together six of the country's best teams to compete for the grand prize. The event will be held on September 13 and 14 in the "Nikola Stanchev" sports hall, located in the "Meden Rudnik" residential complex.

The tournament, which has long been an important part of team preparation before the new season, is organized by handball club "Fregata" in partnership with the Municipality of Burgas. This collaboration highlights the local community's commitment to sports development and providing high-quality events for residents and visitors.

Participants include established names in handball such as "Lokomotiv" from Gorna Oryahovitsa, "Dobrudzha" from Dobrich, "Chardafon" from Gabrovo, "Pirin 64" from Gotse Delchev, "Osum" from Lovech, and the hosts from "Fregata" Burgas. This star-studded selection guarantees competitive and emotional matches, with each team aiming to show their best form.

The competition will officially open at 10:00 a.m. on September 13 with the highly anticipated match between the local team "Fregata" and the visiting team "Pirin 64". The program for the first day is packed with matches, as the teams will play using the "round-robin" system, which promises dynamics and unpredictability.

On the second day, September 14, the excitement will reach its peak, as the matches will be decisive for the final standings. Spectators will witness competitive matches for the distribution of fifth and sixth place, as well as the battle for the bronze medals. The culmination of the tournament will be the final match, which will take place at 1:00 p.m. and will determine the cup winner.

The official awards ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on September 14, when the best teams will be recognized for their achievements. The "Todor Hunkov" tournament is not just a sports competition but a handball celebration that gives fans the opportunity to enjoy high-quality play and support their favorite teams.
