The city's streets are changing. The large-scale reconstruction of "Asen Zlatarov" Street is entering its final and greenest phase. Instead of the old and compromised trees, the sidewalks in the area are welcoming the first young saplings of a specially selected plant species, which guarantees both safety and long-lasting coolness.

The first new trees are already decorating the fully renovated section between "Khan Asparuh" and "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" streets. A total of 89 Common hornbeam trees are finding their permanent home along the entire route immediately after the completion of construction and installation activities.

Why was the Common hornbeam chosen?

The urban environment requires exceptional precision when selecting vegetation. The Common hornbeam possesses specific biological characteristics that make it perfect for narrow urban spaces:

"The choice of common hornbeam solves long-standing problems with the compromised infrastructure in this neighborhood. The deep roots guarantee the preservation of the new sidewalks for decades to come," share urban landscaping experts.

More shade and cleaner air for the neighborhood

In addition to pure aesthetics and safety, the new plantings also bring serious environmental benefits. The dense foliage of the hornbeam provides thick and fresh shade during the hot summer months, while at the same time capturing fine dust particles and reducing noise levels from car traffic. Thanks to these smart solutions, the area is acquiring a modern, greener, and significantly cozier appearance for residents and visitors of the city.
