The Parliament adopted on second reading the bill amending the Audit Office Act, which provides for the closure of the Commission for Combating Corruption (CCC).

The functions of the CCC are transferred to the Main Directorate “Combating Organized Crime” (GDBOP) of the Ministry of Interior and the Audit Office.

GDBOP will be responsible for the detection and countering of corruption, and the investigation of high-level corruption returns to the investigators.

The Audit Office takes over the activities of corruption prevention, identifying conflicts of interest, and discrepancies in declared assets.

Employees from the Specialized Directorate “Combating Corruption” in the CCC transfer to GDBOP.

SANS (State Agency for National Security) receives the archival files of operational records and the databases from the CCC.

The proposals of “We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria” (WCC-DB) and “Vazrazhdane” to transfer these data to GDBOP were rejected.

All active cases of operational records, led by the CCC, are transferred to GDBOP.
