“The parties must demonstrate nationally responsible behavior and the ability to make reasonable compromises. Everything else is a path to nowhere,” stated the chairman of BSP, Atanas Zafirov, at a meeting in Targovishte.
Zafirov noted that Boyko Borisov's comment about “left-leaning” of the government is a compliment.
“Our biggest task now is to preserve unity in the party, not to disown our achievements, and to acknowledge the mistakes,” said Zafirov, emphasizing a mistake in communication policy. Overcoming the financial and organizational crisis and the unification of the left political space were noted as successes.
Zafirov added that the government was necessary to put an end to the election cycle. He highlighted the efforts to continue the Swiss rule, to preserve the reactors of the Belene Nuclear Power Plant, and not to send Bulgarian soldiers to Ukraine.
Zafirov predicted coalition governments and added that even the new project will not gather more than half of the votes.
