Police in Burgas have arrested a 34-year-old local man on suspicion of stealing car tyres from three garages in the city, police said. A total of 23 tyres were taken. The cost of the damage has not yet been set.
Three garages reported that an unknown man had taken tyres from them. The first two thefts were from garages on Krayezerna Street and Tsar Kaloyan Street, where 14 second-hand tyres were stolen in all.
After further work on the case, officers also linked the man to a third theft, from a site in the Horizont district. Nine used tyres of different sizes and makes were taken there, six of them on rims.
The man was driving an Audi with Burgas plates when police detained him near Block 68 in the Lazur district. He refused a roadside test for alcohol and drugs, and later refused a blood test for chemical analysis.
The man has a long criminal record.
