Bulgaria expresses its solidarity with the people of Nepal and China following the devastating natural disaster. Vice President Iliana Iotova sent her condolences to the families of the victims and wished for a speedy recovery for those affected in a post on the social network X.
"Courage and success in the rescue and recovery efforts, as well as in overcoming the aftermath of this catastrophic disaster," stated the head of state. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed its position on the matter on Thursday.
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and the destruction caused by the flash floods in Nepal and China," the ministry stated on X. They added that their thoughts are with the families of the missing and expressed full solidarity with the local communities and rescue teams on the ground.
As a reminder, on Wednesday, a partial glacier collapse triggered a massive flow of rock, ice, mud, and debris through the river systems in the Himalayas. The incident killed nearly 600 people in Nepal and Tibet, with over 2,000 still reported missing. The European Union has already allocated 2 million euros in humanitarian aid for those affected by the disaster, which has claimed more than 500 lives in Nepal alone.
