President Iliana Yotova has extended her greetings to the Bulgarian people on the occasion of Independence Day, describing the declaration of sovereignty in 1908 as a landmark state act that carries a responsibility toward both the present and the future.
"September 22, 1908, is a memorable date in our national calendar, reminding us that through patience, reason, consistency, and collective effort, we can achieve much," Yotova wrote.
The President noted that the message delivered in Veliko Tarnovo over a century ago has not lost its potency — in the Manifesto, Prince Ferdinand declares: "Bulgaria must move forward in its cultural and economic development".
According to Yotova, Bulgaria must today present itself with confidence as a free and equal nation, upholding its national dignity and determining its own destiny.
The President further wrote in her publication that the country's ability to become a secure and prosperous home for all depends on the unity, energy, and confidence of the Bulgarian people.
