MPs on parliament's education and science committee have backed, at first reading, a bill to move nurseries from the health ministry to the education ministry.
The bill changes the rules on how nurseries look after children, including the requirements for nurses in them.
Sofia's deputy mayor for education, Desislava Zhelyazkova, backed the change before MPs, along with UNICEF representatives and heads of Sofia kindergartens. They promised to help fine-tune the bill's wording before the second reading.
