Over the next 24 hours, the weather in the country will be cloudy, with rain in many places, which, with the drop in temperatures, will turn to snow in most of the country, announced the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
In the southern and extreme eastern regions, the precipitation will be rain and snow, and icing will also form in places there. Significant amounts will be in Central and Eastern Bulgaria. It will be windy with moderate and temporarily strong wind from the north-northeast, which will create conditions for blizzards and snowdrifts. Temperatures in most areas will have a small diurnal range, close to zero. In Southern Bulgaria, morning temperatures will be between 3° and 7°, but during the day they will decrease and by 2:00 PM will be between 0° and 4°. In Sofia, the temperature will be around zero. Atmospheric pressure is below average, will rise and will approach the average.
Along the Black Sea coast, it will be cloudy with rain, which towards the end of the day will mix with snow. In places, mainly along the northern coast, there will be conditions for icing. A strong wind from the north-northeast will blow. Maximum temperatures will be between 4° and 7°. The temperature of the sea water is 4° – 6°. The sea swell will be 3 – 4 Beaufort.
In the mountains, it will be cloudy with snowfall, significant in quantity in the Rhodopes and Central Stara Planina. A strong wind from the south-southeast will blow, which will gradually orient from the north-northwest and will weaken. There will be conditions for blizzards and snowdrifts on the mountain passes. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 meters will be around 0°, at 2000 meters – around minus 5°.
During the night before Sunday, there will be snowfall in Northern Bulgaria and the Rhodope region, and in the southeastern regions the rain will also turn to snow. In the rest of the country, the precipitation will stop. The wind will weaken and will orient from the north-northwest. On Sunday until noon, the snowfall will stop everywhere, over Western Bulgaria, and the cloud cover will break and decrease. Daytime temperatures there will rise and in the northwestern regions and the western part of the Upper Thracian lowland will reach 8°-10°; in the east, they will still be between 2° and 7°. On Monday, daytime temperatures will rise and will be from 4°-6° in Northeastern Bulgaria to 14°-16° in the rest of the country. Morning temperatures in most of the country will be negative – mainly between minus 6° and minus 1°. Sunny weather will prevail. The northwest wind will weaken.
