The entrance to Sozopol is closed today from 8am to 6pm for the "Super Sprint Sozopol 2026" car race. The race is a charity event, and the money goes to a person who needs help, the organisers said.
On 29 October the town council warned that on 8 November cars would be sent on a detour and buses would run on a different route.

Cars reach the town by an alternative entrance, at the junction of Republican Road II-99 and the municipal road, next to the big supermarket. Buses that leave from or arrive at the Sozopol bus stop during these hours take another route and stop at the bus stop on Cherno More Square.
The track is 3km long. The start is in front of the council building, and the cars head from there towards the village of Ravadinovo. Drivers turn around after the bridge, at the triangle, and line up there to race back the other way. There are starting positions in Sozopol and near Ravadinovo. Drivers warm up their tyres about 200m before the start line, and cars set off 1 minute 30 seconds apart.
The track has barriers, warning tape and bales. Security staff and police are keeping order. The organisers ask spectators to follow the safety instructions exactly.
The race cars and pits are on Khan Krum Square in the Old Town, so the public can look at them and meet the drivers. Technical and administrative checks are nearby, at the Otets Paisiy - 1896 community centre.
The race brings motorsport fans together for a cause. At first it was for two people who need help, but one of them died. The organisers offered their condolences to his family. The race is now in his memory, and everything raised goes to the second person.
Donations are collected in the organisers' red Trabant, which has been turned into a collection box and placed in a central spot in the event area. Anyone who wants to and is able to can donate.
