Aid for Ukraine: Realities and Opportunities
Bulgaria consistently provides humanitarian and military-technical aid to Ukraine, aligned with available national resources. Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova stated that our country cannot be hypocritical by promising the impossible, but remains committed through European and NATO instruments.
We cannot be hypocritical and promise something we do not have, commented Minister Petrova.
Despite the budget deficit, Bulgaria has not abandoned its support. The government relies on sober analysis and active cooperation with partners from the EU and NATO.
Foreign Policy and Stability
Petrova noted that the stable majority in Bulgaria has been positively received by international partners in Berlin, Paris, and Brussels. The country's predictability is of key importance for its role in regional security.
- Position on the war: Seeking lasting peace and unity with partners.
- Security: Condemning drone attacks near NATO borders (the case in Romania).
- Visa regime with the US: Continued work at a technical level without setting ultimatums.
The Minister emphasized that issues regarding pro-Russian or anti-Russian sentiments are a tool of political opponents, while the cabinet's actual actions clearly place Bulgaria within the framework of the EU and NATO.
