The Regional Administration - Veliko Tarnovo and Veliko Tarnovo Municipality are accelerating their joint efforts to solve water supply problems in the region, announced the press center of the regional administration. A priority project, which is already being actively worked on, is connecting the old capital with the "Alexander Stamboliyski" dam.

This key topic was discussed at a meeting between the regional governor Julia Likomanova-Mutafchieva and the mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Daniel Panov. The meeting was held in the context of the prolonged drought affecting the region and creating serious challenges for the water supply of populated areas.

Mayor Panov announced important news regarding the project's funding.

Funding has already been secured for the first step - designing the major renovation of the western 30-kilometer main water pipeline from Veliko Tarnovo to the village of Emen
, he stated. Panov added that the second phase of the project will include building a new connection from Emen to the "Alexander Stamboliyski" dam. The funds for the implementation of these large-scale infrastructure projects will be allocated through the National Investment Program for Municipalities.

Water management experts emphasize that the restoration of the Emen water pipeline and its connection to the "Alexander Stamboliyski" dam represents a long-term and sustainable solution for water supply to the population in the area. This project is expected to provide a stable water source for the region, especially during periods of drought.

During the meeting, other important topics concerning the safety and development of the region were also discussed. Fire prevention measures were among the priority issues discussed by the regional governor and the mayor. They expressed unanimity that protecting the life, health, and property of citizens is of paramount importance. This topic gained particular relevance after the two major fires that broke out in Veliko Tarnovo in July - one in the Garga Bair area, and the other intentionally caused by a man with a criminal record.

Likomanova-Mutafchieva and Panov also discussed the upcoming construction of large infrastructure projects in the territory of the old capital and in the region. Special attention was paid to the "Hemus" and Ruse - Veliko Tarnovo highways, the construction of which has been resumed by the current regular government. These projects are expected to have a significant impact on the economic development and connectivity of the region.

The meeting between the regional governor and the mayor of Veliko Tarnovo demonstrated the active cooperation between different levels of government to solve key problems and implement strategic projects in the region. This partnership is expected to lead to concrete results in the near future, improving the quality of life for residents of Veliko Tarnovo and the surrounding areas.
