Revival has called on culture minister Evtim Miloshev to quit at once over repair work on the Freedom Monument on Shipka Peak. MP Angel Yanchev read out the party's statement from the floor of parliament.
Yanchev said the minister is directly responsible for the repairs, and that Rumen Radev's government signed off on the funding on 15 July.
"The culture minister isn't doing anything and sent the director of the Shipka-Buzludzha national park museum to explain instead," Yanchev said.
He said the money is going to a firm tied to the DPS party that can't do the job properly - a firm known in Veliko Tarnovo for shoddy insulation work on blocks of flats. MPs keep hearing there's no money for anything, he said, yet this firm is getting 6.16 million euros.
The project papers were approved back in 2022, in the final days of the Petkov government, and three public tenders have failed since then. Yanchev said that's because bidders weren't approved, or because the technical plans themselves showed the work isn't even needed.
Yanchev also said the culture ministry told Revival the museum's exhibition will shrink by 35%, that three professors had signed off on this, and that the ministry assured the party there's nothing to worry about.
Burying Tsar Samuil's remains in Sofia doesn't change the fact that the monument has been "gutted", Yanchev said, or that someone is trying to rewrite Bulgarian history.
On 25 September, Revival had already called, in a statement, for work on the monument to stop until independent experts check it.
