A looming scandal, similar to the "Botash" case and involving the Cherno More motorway, has been predicted by Vazrazhdane MP Tsoncho Ganev. Speaking in the parliamentary lobby, he expressed serious concerns regarding the policy pursued by Prime Minister Rumen Radev toward Turkey, emphasizing that the lack of transparency on the matter is alarming. According to him, the Prime Minister's behavior proves that the agreements reached with the Turkish side are to Bulgaria's detriment.
To clarify the situation, the political party plans to take specific steps. "We will file an official request under the Access to Public Information Act to see exactly what Radev has negotiated and why he is currently hiding this information. Because we are facing a situation where we will most likely be obligated to pay for our roads," the MP argued. The request under the Access to Public Information Act aims to secure access to the minutes from the meeting between Radev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Tension escalated after party leader Kostadin Kostadinov had already sent an inquiry to the Prime Minister for a copy of the minutes in question. The deadline for a response was September 9, but the document was never provided. According to Ganev, this refusal confirms their suspicions, especially since, during a meeting in Istanbul in August, Radev boasted about "freezing" the "Botash" contract. The Turkish side, however, clarified that it was not a termination, but merely a postponement of the agreement's implementation.
Alongside the questions surrounding the government's international agreements, Tsoncho Ganev used his appearance before journalists to address the party's future political plans. He revealed that the name of the presidential candidate who will represent "Vazrazhdane" in the upcoming race will be announced very soon.
