Innovation and digital transformation minister Ivan Vasilev said today that the reports on the checks of 10 voting machines will be published when the checks end. He told parliament's innovation and digital transformation committee that the inspection teams picked the machines themselves.

This story follows our earlier report on the draw for the machines at the ministry. The numbers of the 10 machines were drawn at random there on Tuesday, and the machines are due to be tested for compliance.

Vasilev was answering a question from the GERB-SDS parliamentary group on how reliable machine voting will be in the presidential and vice-presidential election on October 25. Machines will be used in polling stations with more than 300 voters.

The minister said each team asked for a set number of machines. The check is meant to let the teams confirm that the machines are fit for the election. The reports will be open to everyone.

"I believe that the more open the process is and the better informed people are, the more they will trust the election," Vasilev said. He said public trust will affect turnout.

The ministry promised full openness on work within its powers. It will share new information with the public at once through all its channels.

There is also a mobile app that shows voters how to vote with a machine. Vasilev said it helps people be as well prepared as possible for election day.
