A resident of Varna from the "Chayka" district is fighting for the cleanliness of his area, but encounters bureaucratic obstacles. For years, the man, named Dimitar Dimitrov, has been making efforts to beautify and maintain the space around the building where he lives. Autumn, however, brings with it a new problem – the fallen leaves, which, after being collected, remain unremoved.
A reporter on the spot saw how Dimitar Dimitrov tirelessly takes care of the green areas around the cooperative. It is visible how he tries to collect every fallen leaf, investing time and effort. The bags, filled with leaves, have been sitting next to the building for days.
"We want to set a good example for our children - that is the main thing, it is very beautiful when it is clean, and in my opinion there will be no mosquitoes and other pests, because they hide among the leaves. There is no one to transport them, because the municipality has not done its job." - commented Dimitar Dimitrov.
The situation provoked a reaction from Varna Municipality. They stated that the "Primorski" district has a contract with a company engaged in the maintenance of green areas in this part of the city.
The Deputy Mayor of Varna, Iliya Koev, explained the situation: "We are currently at the beginning of the leaf fall of the year, so the company that maintains the green areas has the obligation to collect the leaves. There was a delay in the contractual relations, due to the later adoption of our budget."
According to Deputy Mayor Iliya Koev, the bags with the collected leaves can be left next to the containers, and the waste disposal company will collect them when collecting household waste.
At the same time, Dimitar Dimitrov has decided to use the power of social networks. He created a page where anyone who wishes can share good examples of cleaned areas in Varna, as well as report problems. Dimitrov hopes to attract more like-minded people and work together for a cleaner environment.
