As of 2:00 PM today, following an incident that occurred in the afternoon of November 9th, the pipeline failure in Varna Lake has been repaired. This was announced by the press center of the municipal administration, citing information from the company executing the project for "Repair of a pressure pipeline Ф500 for wastewater, located at the bottom of Varna Lake".

The company responsible for restoring the facility informed that the integrity of the pipeline has been restored. Following technical tests, it is now functioning under pressure.

On Sunday, the operator of the "Asparuhovo" sewage pumping station registered a drop in pressure. By 5:00 PM, a complete absence of pressure in the pipeline was detected, which serves as a clear indicator of the emergency situation. In the morning hours of yesterday, November 10th, the vessel for emergency activities of "Hydroremont IG" Ltd. received permission to conduct an inspection. By 10:00 AM, the exact location of the damage was established.

The financing of the construction of the pressure pipeline for wastewater, located at the bottom of Varna Lake, is provided by the state, according to an agreement from April 2024. The administration notes that there are significant delays in payments, which hinders the quick execution of repair activities by the company. Until the final completion of the project, reliance is placed on the use of the temporary pipeline. The last water leak was registered at the end of July. At that time, the damage was repaired in extremely short timeframes.

The pipeline was laid in 2011. In 2019, the facility suffered an accident, which led to serious pollution of the waters of Varna Lake. In April 2024, the state allocated the sum of 24 million leva for the performance of repair activities. At a meeting with the media, held in August, representatives of the company executing the project assured that the entire repair of the pipeline would be completed in early 2025. Despite this, in early November, the pipe failed again. A few days later, the problem was resolved.
