Valentin Lyutskanov from the "Chernomorets Burgas" Underwater Sports Club won the "Gencho Pavlov" Cup at the traditional spearfishing tournament. The competition took place over the weekend in the waters off Primorsko.
The event saw the participation of 33 competitors from ten clubs across the country. It was organized with the financial support of the Municipality of Burgas.
Lyutskanov, who is the captain of the national team and the absolute champion for 2025, took first place in the 8th round of the "Bulgaria" Cup criteria. He achieved a score of 24,295 points with a catch of 20 fish.
Second place in the standings went to Veselin Tomov from the Varna club "Vatus Pro" with 20,500 points. Third place was taken by Burgas team competitor Nikolay Tanev, who also won the award for the largest fish with a 1,675-gram flathead grey mullet.
The national championship is up next, scheduled to take place from September 4 to 7 in the waters off Tsarevo. The decisive tournament, which will determine the winner of the "Bulgaria" Cup, is scheduled for September 12 in Rezovo.
