The fourth national Spartakiad of the Trade Union Federation of Ministry of Interior Employees (TUF-MIE) has launched in Primorsko, BTA reports. It features over 300 Ministry of Interior employees from across the country, as well as representatives from foreign police trade union organizations.
The sporting event was officially opened at the "Forest Beach" hotel, located within the International Youth Center. The competitions will continue until September 23, with participants competing in eight different disciplines.
During the opening ceremony, TUF-MIE Chairman Iliya Kuzmanov presented certificates to representatives of the Primorsko District Police Department and the "Border Police Ships" Base in Sozopol. The awards were an expression of gratitude for the assistance, cooperation, and professional support provided during the implementation of the federation's initiatives.
The Spartakiad disciplines include football, beach volleyball, pétanque, backgammon, chess, darts, tennis, and table tennis. The football tournament will see the highest number of participants, with 16 teams competing. Among them are two foreign police trade union teams from Romania and North Macedonia. Representatives from police trade union organizations from Poland, Ukraine, and Slovakia are also present in Primorsko. Additionally, police officers from Turkey are participating, according to the event organizers speaking to BTA.
The fourth national Spartakiad is being held as part of the TUF-MIE traditional charity campaign, "With love for the children, in memory of the hero fathers!". The sporting initiatives are also aimed at supporting the children and families of Ministry of Interior employees who have died or been injured in the line of duty.
