A large-scale documentary project by UNICEF reveals the innovative approach to social integration of Ukrainian children in Bulgaria, implemented through a specialized community center in the city of Burgas.
During the journalistic visit, a series of video materials were filmed, which present the daily life of refugee children. They demonstrated how successful adaptation to the new social environment is achieved through play and educational activities.
Specialists from the center, located in the "Raina Knyaginya" kindergarten in the "Slaveikov" complex, work with children aged 3 to 14 years. They create an inclusive atmosphere that allows young Ukrainian citizens to learn the Bulgarian language, make new friends, and overcome the psychological challenges of forced displacement.
The project is the result of a strategic partnership between the Burgas Municipality and UNICEF Bulgaria. The memorandum of understanding aims to support local social policies focused on the well-being of children and youth from vulnerable groups.
The Personal Development Support Center offers differentiated educational programs. Daily care is provided for the youngest, while older students receive the opportunity for a shared space for informal learning and socialization.
The target group primarily covers children and youth from Ukrainian families who have found temporary shelter in the Burgas region. The project is implemented by the local Personal Development Support Center.
The filmed video materials will present good practices for supporting Ukrainian children, demonstrating how coordinated efforts of institutions, international organizations, and local communities can provide real social support.
