On St. Elijah's Day, when according to folk beliefs the sea "turns" and becomes more dangerous, a 70-year-old tourist from Ukraine lost his life in the waters of Sunny Beach.
The incident occurred around 5:40 PM in the section of the beach near the "Burgas" hotel.
According to information, the man arrived in Bulgaria on July 27.
His body has been transported for an autopsy to the forensic medicine department at UMBAL - Burgas.
A pre-trial proceeding has been initiated in connection with the case.
The incident comes against the backdrop of another tragic case from the beginning of July, when a child from Poland drowned in the pool of one of the most luxurious hotels in Sunny Beach. At the time of the incident, there was no lifeguard on duty around the pool. A pre-trial proceeding has also been initiated for this case, and the investigating authorities continue to carry out procedural-investigative actions.
