Lyuben Karavelov school in Nessebar, the town's biggest, marked European Sport Day with the motto "The more active, the healthier." Physical education teachers put together the programme.
Guests at the event included school board head Mihail Polimenov, kickboxing and muay thai coach Yordan Yankov, an honoured master of sport, and Asenia Dimitrova, a fighter with the Nessebar kickboxing club. Yankov and Dimitrova showed pupils moves from combat sports. Organisers said the demonstration taught pupils what discipline, persistence and sporting spirit mean.
School head Eva Zivildieva welcomed pupils before the event started and urged them to move more, so sport becomes part of their everyday lives.
Part of the programme covered how to get to school safely. Pupils showed how to get around on foot, by bike and by scooter, and went over road safety rules.
