Grim statistics from the Ministry of Interior: 24 serious traffic accidents marked the last 24 hours in Bulgaria. The number of casualties since the beginning of the year is rising rapidly.

Bloody road statistics

Over the past 24 hours, the road situation in the country was extremely severe. According to the Ministry of Interior, 24 serious traffic accidents were registered, in which six people died, and another 25 were injured and hospitalized.

In Sofia, the situation remains dynamic with 21 minor traffic accidents and 3 serious incidents, in which four people were injured, but fortunately, there were no fatalities.

Growing number of incidents in 2026

Data from the beginning of the month shows an alarming trend:

Since the beginning of the year, the statistics are even more alarming – 2899 accidents, which claimed the lives of 210 people, and 3595 sustained injuries.

Comparison with last year

Data from the Ministry of Interior reveals a negative increase in road mortality. Comparing the same period in 2025, when 176 deaths were reported, in 2026 the number has increased by 34 people. Road experts are calling for increased caution and adherence to traffic rules.
