Soprano Ilina Mihaylova sings Violetta, and Venezuelan tenor Reinaldo Droz sings Alfredo. Baritone Alexander Krunev sings Alfredo's father, Giorgio Germont. The Burgas Opera chorus, orchestra and ballet also take part.
The production focuses on the characters' inner changes and their loneliness in the face of society.
The opera is based on "The Lady of the Camellias", the novel by Alexandre Dumas the younger. Violetta Valéry, a Paris courtesan, gives up her glittering life in high society for her love of the young aristocrat Alfredo Germont. Prejudice destroys the couple's peace, because Alfredo's father wants them to part to protect the family's reputation.
Violetta secretly sacrifices herself for love and leaves, and Alfredo is convinced she betrayed him. He learns the truth too late and returns to Violetta as she dies.
