Teams of divers are continuing their intensive search of the seabed near Nesebar, looking for key physical evidence related to the tragic incident in which an 8-year-old child died after falling from a hot air balloon during a parasailing session. The main goal of the search operation is to find the buckles of the safety belts that secured the child. These parts are of critical importance for the technical expertise ordered by the prosecutor's office, which must determine the causes of the tragedy.
Three people charged for the incident
The undertaken investigation has already led to charges being filed against three people who were responsible for operating the equipment. The Burgas court is expected to review their restraining orders tomorrow.
Emergency services under review
While investigative teams search for clues underwater, on shore, questions continue to unravel about the response of the emergency services. The Deputy Minister of Health has ordered a review of the actions of the Emergency Aid, after eyewitnesses reported that the ambulance was delayed and the first team sent arrived without the necessary equipment.
Despite the claims of the witnesses, health experts provided their comments on the case. The medical paramedic Stoyka Vekova stated that "Every ambulance has the necessary equipment to maintain the patient's vital signs until arrival at a hospital".
For his part, Dr. Blagomir Zdravkov, executive director of the specialized hospital for children's diseases "Prof. Ivan Mitev", commented on the severity of injuries in such incidents.
"Falling from such a height is equivalent to contact with a hard surface, i.e. the forensic autopsy will establish the injuries. Very often in this type of incident, they are incompatible with life", he said.
Regarding suggestions for the use of a rescue helicopter, Dr. Zdravkov raised several key questions:
- "The helicopter - first, our helicopters so far do not have primary missions, except for those in the mountains.
- They transport patients from one hospital to another.
- Then - where should this helicopter land on the beach?"
All eyes are now on the expected results of the forensic medical examination, which is expected to shed more light on the exact causes of the child's death. Until the investigation is concluded, all attractions on the beach where the incident occurred have been temporarily suspended, and the atmosphere at the site is marked by heavy silence and grief.
