Tragedy in Nessebar: Russian citizen drowns on unguarded beach
A tragic incident marked the summer on the Southern Black Sea coast after a Russian citizen lost her life, drowning on an unguarded beach. The victim was found near the picturesque area located between the village of Emona and the famous locality "Irakli". The news was officially confirmed by the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Burgas, which reported details of the fatal event.
The signal for the incident was received at the Nessebar Regional Police Department on August 17 at around 10:00 AM.
The authorities were notified that a tragedy had occurred on an unguarded beach, where there was no lifeguard or any kind of supervision. It was confirmed that the woman was a citizen of Russia and had been living in Varna for a long time. For now, no more details about her identity or the reasons why she was in this remote and dangerous beach area have been reported.
After the body of the drowned woman was found, it was transported for an autopsy. The procedure will be performed in the "Forensic Medicine" department at the University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment (UMBAL) in Burgas. The autopsy is expected to provide more clarity on the exact circumstances that led to her death and to confirm whether the cause was drowning or possibly another medical condition.
Investigation and questions about safety
As a result of the fatal incident, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated. The investigating authorities will try to clarify all the facts and circumstances related to the case. The initiated procedure is standard in such situations and aims to establish whether there is any evidence of a crime or an accident, and the circumstances related to the lack of a lifeguard station on this beach will also be examined. The tragedy once again raises the question of tourist safety and the need for adequate safety measures on beach strips, especially in unguarded sections.
