Burgas police reported a fatal incident in which an 18-year-old youth lost his life in the sea near Arkutino beach. The boy was swept away by a dangerous current while swimming in an unguarded zone with his girlfriend.
Citizens first noticed the body further out in the bay, which was subsequently retrieved from the water using a specialized rescue jet. A team of rescuers from the guarded beach area assisted in removing the body from the sea.
A thorough examination and transportation of the body for an autopsy in Burgas are pending. The Regional Police Directorate issued a sharp appeal to vacationers to be extremely cautious when swimming, especially in August, when sea conditions are extremely risky.
Law enforcement officers categorically remind that beach signage is clearly marked, and the red flag unambiguously signals high danger. Disregarding the flag system and rescuers' instructions can have fatal consequences.
