Nessebar council has extended its "Hot Lunch" project and will give meals to 50 people until 16 July 2027, the council administration said.
The Home Social Patronage service in Nessebar hands out the lunches. The people who get them live in Nessebar, Ravda, Kosharitsa, Tankovo, Sunny Beach, Vlas, Orizare and Gyulyovtsa.
The project is for people who cannot get food on their own or with help from relatives. They receive a healthy, varied and filling lunch, and they count on it every day.
The project is paid for under the Food and Basic Material Assistance Programme 2021–2027, with co-funding from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+). It is part of the council's social services, under "Social Care and Services".
The council wants disadvantaged people to live in better conditions and to break out of social isolation. People who get the lunches also receive information about other social and administrative services in the municipality, and about access to health and education services.
The council says the extension means the most vulnerable people with long-term or urgent needs will keep getting help without a break.
A similar project, "Hot Lunch in Burgas Municipality", is also running in Burgas. In October we reported that 180 people on low incomes get a free lunch from the Home Social Patronage service, under the Food and Basic Material Assistance Programme 2021–2027 with ESF+ co-funding.
The council says social policy is among its main priorities. It looks for projects with national and European funding and runs its own schemes for older people, people with disabilities and socially vulnerable people.
