A tragic road incident between Rakovski and Stryama claimed the life of a 59-year-old driver this afternoon. The severe accident occurred on the secondary road II-56, according to the press center of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Plovdiv.

According to initial information, around 3:40 PM, a report was received of a head-on collision between two cars in the section between the "Parchevich" district in Rakovski and the village of Stryama. Upon arrival at the scene, police and emergency medical teams found that one of the drivers had died on the spot.

Preliminary investigation shows that the incident was caused by one of the vehicles entering the oncoming lane, which led to the fatal collision. The deceased driver was operating the first car and was 59 years old.

The second participant in the accident, a 42-year-old man, survived but was transported to a Plovdiv hospital for examination and treatment. His alcohol test came back negative, ruling out alcohol as a factor in the incident.

The road section where the accident occurred is known to be risky due to frequent accidents. Road safety experts urge drivers to be especially careful when passing through this area and to strictly follow traffic rules.

The police continue to investigate the incident, expecting to take statements from witnesses and conduct a detailed inspection of the accident site. The aim is to establish the exact causes of the tragedy and to take measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The case once again raises the question of the need to improve road infrastructure and strengthen safety measures on Bulgarian roads, especially in sections with increased risk of accidents.
