The Chaika folk dance club in Pomorie marks 25 years since its first classes on Saturday. The anniversary motto is "25 years are not enough", club leader Lilyana Hristova said.
The club has worked in Burgas since 2005. Its dancers are of all ages and share a love of folklore.
One group performs traditional horo dances and stage dances. The others mostly dance horo, sometimes with variations in the figures.
At the start, it was hard to choose a direction: old traditional forms or stage dances. Hristova says things sorted themselves out over time.
"The folklore heritage that has come down to us is a treasure, and we must treat it with great care," Hristova told Bulgarian National Radio. She has no favourite folklore region, "because I like them all".
Chaika dancers have performed on many festival stages abroad and in Bulgaria. The club is among the organisers of the "Horo by the Pomorie Shore" dance festival.
Hristova is sure the club will keep growing.
