"A Neapolitan Evening at the Opera" takes place on 8 October at 7pm in the hall of the State Opera in Burgas.
Maestro Svilen Simeonov wrote the script and arrangements and will conduct himself. He has been a member of the Recording Academy, which picks the Grammy Award winners, since July this year and has a vote there.
"This is the 13th project I have done with the Burgas Opera company. I am happy to be back on this stage after three years away," Simeonov told Bulgarian National Radio.
The soloists are mezzo-soprano Maria Yurkovskaya, tenor Yani Nikolov and baritone Andrey Yurkovsky. The programme includes "Santa Lucia", "Torna a Surriento", "O sole mio", "Mamma", "Funiculì Funiculà" and other pieces.
Simeonov says the programme weaves popular Italian canzonettas together with fiery Spanish melodies and music from well-known films linked to Italy. The film music is from "The Godfather" and "Once Upon a Time in America".
