Europe and its allies strongly condemn the Russian escalation after Russian forces launched massive strikes on residential areas and civilian infrastructure in Kyiv during yet another night of missile bombardment. The attack has resulted in dozens of casualties, including children. According to various officials, the number of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles fired reached an impressive 629. Among the damaged buildings were those of the EU Delegation and the British Council.

International Condemnation of the Attacks

The attack triggered a wave of angry reactions from world leaders. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, stated that "my thoughts are with all those affected by the senseless Russian strikes on Kyiv, which damaged the British Council building." He was adamant that "Putin is killing children and civilians, undermining hopes for peace. This bloodshed must stop".

The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, emphasized that the attack was a deliberate act of escalation. "While the whole world is seeking a path to peace, Russia responds with missiles. The night attack on Kyiv shows a deliberate choice for escalation and a mockery of peace efforts. Russia must stop the killings and begin negotiations", she urged.

French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the actions as "senseless and cruel" and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. "629 missiles and drones over Ukraine in one night: this is Russia's will for peace. Terror and barbarism. Over ten dead, including children. Residential areas and civilian infrastructure are under attack. The offices of the EU Delegation and the British Council are damaged. France resolutely condemns these senseless and cruel attacks. We fully support the Ukrainian people and express our deepest condolences to all the families of the deceased", he wrote.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, expressed her outrage at the Russian attacks, which took the lives of men, women, and children. She stressed that damage had also been inflicted on the EU diplomatic mission and expressed solidarity with the staff. Von der Leyen believes that "the Russian strikes on Kyiv will only strengthen Europe's unity and Ukraine's indomitable spirit".

The President of the European Council, António Costa, also did not remain indifferent. "I am horrified by yet another night of deadly Russian missile strikes on Ukraine", he shared, adding that his thoughts are with the victims and the staff of the EU mission. Costa was adamant that "the EU will not be intimidated. Russian aggression only strengthens our resolve to support Ukraine and its people".

Call for Increased Support

The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, joined the general chorus of criticism, describing the incident as "another night of horror in Kyiv." She called on the international community to increase its support for Ukraine.

"Russian missiles have killed civilians, including children. Yesterday I said it clearly: Russia brings war and death. Today this is further proof. The free world must increase support for Ukraine and put pressure on Russia to agree to a real ceasefire", she stated.

All these statements come amid the ongoing tension that Russia is creating in the region. These attacks not only destroy infrastructure but also sow terror among the civilian population, killing innocent people and attempting to destabilize not only Ukraine but all of Europe. With each new attack, European leaders strengthen their resolve to resist and provide even greater support to Ukraine.
