The arrival of the Holy Belt of the Theotokos in Burgas in the early hours of September 14th – the great Christian feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross – was an event filled with deep spiritual significance.
Thousands of pilgrims flocked in the early hours to venerate this unique relic, the only preserved artifact from the earthly life of the Mother of God.
The scene in front of the "Saints Cyril and Methodius" church was filled with excitement and reverence. The Burgas clergy received the holy belt with solemnity and honor, and the subsequent liturgical procession, passing through the streets of "Aleksandrovska" and "Uspenska" to the "St. Mary" church, became an impressive event, attracting the attention of many.
The streets came alive, filled with church hymns and prayers, and the atmosphere was imbued with a sense of common prayer and humility.
Mayor Dimitar Nikolov and the regional governor Vladimir Krumov, along with hundreds of parishioners, joined the procession, paying homage to the holy artifact.
They later all took part in the Archieral festive Vespers in the "St. Mary" church, where prayers were offered for health, peace, and prosperity.
It is important to note that the arrival of the holy belt is the result of joint efforts and was organized at the invitation of His Eminence Metropolitan Arseniy of Sliven, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Ignatius of Dimitriada from the Greek Orthodox Church.
The holy belt, brought by Gerontissa Nymphodora – abbess of the "Panagia Kato Ksenia" monastery in the city of Volos, Greece, will remain in the "St. Mary" church for veneration until September 17th, the feast of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia.
