An elderly couple of tourists is in hospital after a car hit them on the road in Sveti Vlas this morning, the "Drivers Nesebar" group says.
A Skoda car hit the man and the woman near the Marché shop as the two were walking on the road. An ambulance crew and police arrived quickly, sealed off the area and began an inspection. So far there is no official word on the exact injuries or the condition of the two victims.
Early reports say the Skoda driver was turning toward Sveti Vlas and did not see the elderly couple. The car hit them and rolled on for a few more meters before stopping. Investigators still have to work out exactly where the pedestrians were, how fast the car was going and other details. It is also not yet clear whether the crash happened at a crossing point.
Photos from the scene show the car, the ambulance and the police team right at the spot where the couple were hit. Officers put cones around the car while they worked. Both victims were taken for a medical check, but it is not yet clear whether they were admitted to hospital or what injuries they suffered.
Police still have to establish exactly how the crash happened and how the driver acted just before the impact. The check should also show exactly where the tourists were crossing at the moment of the crash. Until the inspection is over, no firm conclusions should be drawn about who is at fault. More details are expected once the initial steps in the case are done and data comes in from the hospital where the victims were taken.
