The weekend will be colder than usual for the time of year, with warmer weather expected from next week. Until Sunday, night temperatures will drop below freezing in most of Bulgaria.
Temperatures fell below zero this morning in the eastern half of the country: minus 3C in Shumen and Elhovo, minus 2C in Karnobat, and minus 1C in Dobrich and Kazanlak.
Fog covered many places in the morning, but visibility has improved and it will be sunny across the country this afternoon. The northwest wind is light, and moderate in northern Bulgaria. Highs today will be between 9C and 14C, with about 11C in Sofia and on the Black Sea coast.
Tomorrow the wind will blow from the northeast and get stronger in the east. Dangerously strong gusts of up to about 90 km/h are expected in Dobrich region. Cold air will arrive with the wind, so highs will be lower than today, between 7C and 12C, and about 10C in Sofia.
Lows will be between minus 2C and 3C, with about minus 2C in Sofia. There will be fog in the morning around lakes and rivers, in lowlands and in valleys, then it will turn sunny.
The Black Sea coast will be sunny and very windy. The north wind is moderate, and at times strong along the northern coast. Temperatures on the shore will be 8-9C.
Conditions for hiking in the mountains on Saturday are good: sunny, with a moderate north wind that will be strong at times. In the resorts, highs will range from 1C at Malyovitsa and Aleko to 4C in Borovets.
On Sunday it will be sunny in most of the country, with morning fog in places in lowlands and valleys. Temperatures will barely change.
On Monday the sky will be mostly cloudy, with rain in places in the western half of the country. Clouds will thin out overnight into Tuesday. Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with fog before noon, and both lows and highs will rise.
