Today and tomorrow, 12 Lufthansa flights to and from Sofia Airport have been canceled due to a strike by cabin crew, the airport announced. Six flights are departing, and six are arriving.

The cabin crew union UFO (UFO) has called on the flight attendants of Lufthansa and Cityline to stop working. The strike began at 00:01 today and will continue until midnight tomorrow.

Union leader Joachim Vasquez Bürger explained that the protest is directed at working conditions and management decisions. It is taking place against the backdrop of the upcoming ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the first Lufthansa flight.

At the end of last week, numerous flights were canceled due to a strike by cabin crew, and at the beginning of the week, a pilots' strike led to serious disruptions in the flight schedule, with all flights to and from Sofia being canceled.

Lufthansa has not yet made an official comment. Previous strike actions were taken to minimize the consequences.

According to the company, about one-third of short-haul flights and about half of long-haul flights are operating on schedule. At the subsidiary Eurowings, where the pilots' union also announced a strike, the share of flights operated is around 60 percent.
