The Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, held a meeting with a delegation of mayors from Turkish cities to present the city's development and prospects for future cooperation. The main focus of the talks was on opportunities for partnership in education, healthcare, science, and the economy.
The Turkish delegation included mayors from various cities in Turkey, including Yenimahalle, Cankaya, Elmadağ, Odunpazarı, Alaşehir, Vize, Ahmetbey, and Kıyıköy. From the Bulgarian side, the Mayor of Kameno and the Director of the "Economic Activities" Directorate in Burgas Municipality attended.
Nikolov presented the project for the construction of a new children's hospital in Burgas, highlighting the opportunities for exchange of experience in the field of medicine and science. He also mentioned the existence of a faculty of medicine and other specialties that offer training in English for foreign students.
The project for a new student campus, which will be ready next year and will create good conditions for student exchange, was also presented. In addition, sports projects were discussed, including Burgas's candidacy to host international events, as well as large-scale infrastructure projects.
At the meeting, economic cooperation was also recalled, including the participation of over 180 Turkish companies in the Bulgaria - Turkey Economic Forum in Burgas last year. The growing interest of Turkish companies in investing in the industrial zones of the city was noted.
The meeting confirmed the interest of both sides in deepening the partnership and implementing joint projects.
