President Iliana Yotova announced that the designation of the candidate for caretaker Prime Minister will happen soon. This became clear at the beginning of consultations with representatives of 'Velichie', the last parliamentary group with which the head of state held a meeting.
At the end of January, President Yotova met with all potential candidates for caretaker Prime Minister, as indicated in the Constitution. Five of them expressed willingness to take the position: Andrey Gyurov (BNB), Maria Filipova (Deputy Ombudsman), Dimitar Glavchev (Chairman of the Audit Office), Margarita Nikolova, and Silvia Kadreva (Deputy Chairpersons of the Audit Office).
After consultations with the parliamentary groups and upon the proposal of the candidate for caretaker Prime Minister, the President appoints a caretaker government and sets elections within a two-month period.
President Iliana Yotova stated that they will do everything possible for the elections to be on the first date after the Easter holidays, with the first Sunday after Easter being April 19th.
