Slavi Tomov presents "Father" by Sibylle Lacan in Burgas

The literary event, where Slavi Tomov will present the book "Father" by Sibylle Lacan, will take place on September 16 at 6:00 PM at the Writers' House. Admission is free for all those wishing to attend.

The title "Father" – lacking a definite article in the original – takes on a particular, paradoxical meaning, given that the author is the daughter of the iconic psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan. Through this choice of title, Sibylle declares her personal approach: "to speak of the father, as Jacques Lacan was to me, not of the man in general, and even less so of the psychoanalyst." The subtitle "Puzzle" suggests an attempt to intuit a new genre that does not fit into the categories of a novel, memoirs, or autobiography.

The book is a mosaic of blindingly sharp and tender flashes of memory. The author explores the complex relationship between daughter and father, in which even seemingly happy moments can hide a "piece of hell." The work is the fruit of a fierce desire for authenticity, through which Sibylle Lacan attempts to win her own language and world, even when love was wounded at the very source of words.
