Kaloyan Binev has spoken out for the first time since his father, Slavi Binev, was shot dead. In a social media post, he wrote about Eyup Temiz, a family friend of the Binevs, who has been charged.
Slavi Binev was shot on 24 October in the Pavlovo district of Sofia. On Tuesday 27 October, prosecutors asked for Temiz to be held in custody, the toughest measure available. His son's message came 10 days after the killing.

"On this day, a man – a family friend who called my father his brother – did not kill just one person, but thousands of people around this world," Kaloyan Binev wrote.
He did not comment on details of the criminal case.
Binev, 28, is a European taekwondo champion and has followed the family's path in sport. He says words cannot describe the loss and he does not know what to say.
He says one bullet took the life of a father of five, a husband, a teacher, a lecturer, a dreamer, a friend and a mentor. He writes that his father left a piece of himself with everyone he met.
Slavi Binev was very strict, but that did not mean less love and care, his son says. He calls him a man with a big heart, whose smile no one will erase, a man of honour and great dignity who helped people around him and guided many.
Kaloyan ends his message with the words: "Dad, you did not deserve this! We all love you and we miss you."
Slavi Binev was a European taekwondo champion, a businessman and a former member of the European Parliament. He led the Bulgarian Taekwondo Federation for many years and was recently on the leadership of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.
