The Management Board of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB) approved Silvia Georgieva for a third term as Executive Director of the organization, the Association announced.

The decision was made at the last meeting of the Association's leadership, after the presentation of a report on the activities of the executive director during the 2022–2025 term and the new Program for the period 2026–2029.

"In the presented report, Silvia Georgieva emphasized the main results of NAMRB over the last four years: a significant increase in financial resources for municipal budgets, active participation in the national legislative process, expansion of the institutional influence of NAMRB, and the provision of large-scale expert support to local authorities during crises, reforms and investment programs. These efforts established the organization as a key expert center on issues of local self-government," NAMRB points out.

The new Program for the 2026–2029 term, entitled “Endless possibilities in an uncertain world“, outlines the strategic priorities of NAMRB for the coming years. Among them are adaptation to European policies and the new program period 2028–2034, accelerating the green and digital transformation of municipalities, ensuring financial sustainability, developing administrative capacity and expanding international cooperation.

In 2026, the Association will also celebrate 30 years since its creation, the Association adds.

The management of NAMRB is carried out by a general assembly, a supervisory board, a management board and an executive director. The governing bodies are elected for a term of four years, the Association points out on its website.
