Health Minister Silvi Kirilov announced that 100 million euros will be allocated next year to increase the salaries of healthcare professionals. This became clear at a briefing after a meeting with representatives of the Bulgarian Association of Healthcare Professionals.
“Yesterday, the Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova mentioned the amount of 100 million euros and I confirm it. The money is from a European program,” added Kirilov.
According to him, the guarantee for the increase is that Minister Petkova and the government have identified the problem. “And it is our concern to find the mechanisms,” the minister noted.
“I am extremely pleased with the meeting. The topic has been brewing for a long time, this is not our first meeting. We had different options, and now we are going down a different path. I am optimistic that we will achieve a good result that will satisfy these very important specialties,” the minister also said.
The Ministry of Health will develop a new program to support healthcare professionals. It will be ready within two months and is financially secured with an additional 100 million euros from the operational programs, announced Deputy Minister of Health Yavor Penchev.
