Ukraine's foreign minister Andrii Sybiha has thanked Bulgaria for rescuing Ukrainian sailors from the cargo ship Chelsea 3, which was hit by a drone. He wrote on X on 14 October 2026.
The sailors are injured and are getting the medical care they need.
A drone hit the ship on Tuesday. Sybiha said the attack was Russian.
Bulgaria helped to rescue the injured sailors from the ship. Sybiha thanked Bulgarian rescuers and medics for their professionalism and quick response.
He called the incident yet another attack on a civilian ship near Bulgaria. He said the strike shows "Moscow's disregard for human life and for the safety of navigation in the Black Sea".
Sybiha called on Ukraine's partners to step up pressure on Russia and to make it answer for the attacks. "Freedom of navigation must not depend on Russian strikes and threats," he wrote.
A safe Black Sea and free shipping are in everyone's interest, he said.
