The diplomatic move of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea has reached a new stage, after Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov revealed details about the presence of a North Korean contingent in the conflict zone.
According to official statements, the decision for military intervention was made directly by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who offered support within the framework of bilateral relations. Lavrov described this move as a "sincere expression of solidarity" and emphasized that Moscow had no grounds to refuse the offered help.
Ukrainian military intelligence confirmed the presence of thousands of North Korean servicemen in the Kursk region, predicting an increase in their number over the next months. Pyongyang officially declared its participation in military actions, supporting the Russian side.
The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two countries, signed in 2024, serves as a legal basis for this military cooperation. The North Korean side insists that its actions are fully legitimate and comply with international legal norms.
The Russian military command, for its part, highlighted the "significant role" of North Korean troops in the so-called liberation operations, further emphasizing the strategic importance of this partnership.
The future development of military interaction between Russia and North Korea remains entirely in the hands of Kim Jong-un, who will determine the scope and form of further support.
