The Union of Democratic Forces (SDS) has again strongly condemned Russia's aggressive policy in the Black Sea and its strikes on peaceful merchant ships, which the party called "piracy", the SDS press office said. SDS called on the government to take all necessary steps within NATO. It also urged Bulgaria's political parties to unite in what it called an extremely tense situation.
SDS says Russia sees the Bulgarian government's goodwill as weakness, not as goodwill. Russia has been waging a full-scale war against Ukraine since February 2022.
The party describes the situation on Bulgaria's eastern border as extremely tense. SDS says the country cannot cope alone, because this is a matter of collective security.
