The Council of Ministers has officially approved a draft decision to initiate the creation of a Council for Innovation and Technological Development. The new body is designed as a specialized advisory mechanism with the primary goal of formulating and consistently implementing a long-term state policy in the key areas of innovation and technological progress, the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation announced today.
The Council will be situated under the Minister of Innovation and Digital Transformation. Its mission is to ensure a permanent and tightly structured connection between representatives of the executive branch and key participants in the innovation ecosystem, including high-tech businesses, startups, investors, and research organizations.
Through its expert format, the structure will assist in identifying critical and emerging technologies, as well as formulating specific measures to overcome existing regulatory and administrative barriers. Furthermore, the Council will work to develop the entrepreneurial environment and strictly monitor the implementation of strategic priorities. It is expected that the adoption of this decision will significantly improve policy coordination and achieve more effective interaction between the state and the innovation community.
The creation of this new body builds upon the current institutional framework established by the Scientific Research and Innovation Promotion Act. The project is aligned with the principle of clear distinction and complementarity regarding the functions of the already existing Council for Innovation and Scientific Research.
