The Aleko Konstantinov Satirical Theatre is taking part in the European "Mismatched Shoes Day" initiative, the theatre's team has announced.
Tomorrow, September 25, the whole theatre team will wear two different shoes as a symbolic gesture. The aim is to get people to understand, support and empathise with people with disabilities. Wearing mismatched shoes becomes a sign that it's sometimes worth seeing the world through someone else's eyes.
This year Bulgaria joins the "Mismatched Shoes Day" initiative for the first time, hosted by the labour and social policy ministry. The Human Resources Development Programme is coordinating it.
By joining in, the Satirical Theatre widens the circle of people and organisations backing the cause, organisers say. They say culture and art matter for building a more caring and inclusive society.
